Best Home Cleaning Products for Your Busy Life

Cleaning the house

Let’s face it – life gets really busy at times. Even when we have the best intentions of keeping up with the housework other things tend to take priority. If you are not prepared to clean your house or have to struggle with even the most simple tasks then you are setting yourself up to fail before you even start. I have put together the following list of items that I find make cleaning the house just a little easier. And when I have the products I need and I trust that they will get the job done the first time, I can usually sneak a quick clean up into my normal schedule.

Read below to see what items I use to help me keep my busy household clean.

1. Multi-Surface Cleaner

This is the most versatile product in your cleaning kit. You need to have a good multi-surface cleaner to make you cleaning chore easier and more efficient. Your multi-surface cleaner will be your go-to cleaner for most jobs in your house. I prefer to use this cleaner in a spray bottle because it gets the job done and doesn’t break the bank. I can also puchase it monthly on my Amazon subscribe and save account. I buy this product in bulk so I can keep a bottle in every location I use it to save time running around the house.

2. Window/Glass Cleaner

You really should buy a glass cleaner. I know some of you will say you just use water or (gasp) multi-purpose cleaner on your glass and mirrors. All I have to say is, you are making your life more difficult and/or you don’t have truly clean and disinfected glass surfaces in your house. Glass cleaner really seems to last forever so don’t try to skimp by skipping the glass cleaner. Try this product above to get gleaming glass surfaces in your home.

3. Magic Eraser

” target=”_blank”>

This is one of those products that you might not think you need until you actually try it on something you need it for. An example would be when your toddler draws on the floor with a marker (of course he/she found the one non-water soluable marker in the house). You get the magic eraser and it works like a charm. It works because of its composition of melamine foam which hardens and acts as a fine sandpaper to remove stains. Once you have the magic eraser in your house you will find many uses for it including; cleaning coffee stains from the coffee pot, remove nail polish from almost anything, clean hairspray build-up of from counters or walls, cleaning grout, cleaning soap scum. It really is pretty magical and safe to use on almost all surfaces.

4. Disinfecting wipes

” target=”_blank”>

These wipes are a must have for your quick clean-ups. Of course, they aren’t the most environmentally friendly (meaing you have to dispose of them in the trash and not reuse them) and you will want to ensure that they aren’t flushed down the toilet. That being said, disinfectant wipes can be a real time saver. The wipes come in either a canister of a plastic package that can easily be stored under the kitchen or bathroom sink or on the back of the toilet. When they are readily available when and where you need them it makes it easier to spot clean when you have a half a minute here or there.

5. Cleaning Cloths

Keep a pack of microfiber cleaning cloths available. They are great for dusting and use on pretty much any surface. They wash and dry easily and last for a long time. Cleaning cloths are pretty inexpensive and can replace your torn up T-shirts and towels that you are currently using. The microfiber technology picks up dirt and dust in a way other fabrics can’t. You will be impressed!

6. Wet Jet Mop System

After vacuuming (see our article about choosing the best vacuum cleaner for you) use the Swiffer Wet Jet to thoroughly clean your tile, laminate or wood floors. The handy mopping system has the spray in the handle and disposable mopping pads to completely eliminate the need to lug around a bucket of water and a dripping mop head. Just walk through after vacuuming and clean all of your floors. If you tend to have a lot of spots on your floors from pet or boots, use the heavy-duty mop pad refills and get the same great results.

7. High Duster

There is nothing I hate more than cleaning the entire house and realizing I forgot to look up. Once I do, I see dust and cobwebs up high where I didn’t look and can’t reach. I like to use my high duster before I even start cleaning (or while I am preparing to clean). The when I get all that dust down, I pick it up during my regular cleaning. The head of the duster bends to make it the easiest and fastest way to reach those difficult to get to areas.

8. Gloves

” target=”_blank”>

There are a couple of great reasons to wear gloves when you clean. First of all, you want to protect your hands from all the germs and bacteria you come across. Trust me it’s just gross when you actually find out how many invisible germs are in your home. Secondly, you want to protect your hands (and your jewelry) from the cleaning chemicals. There are some great options for reusable gloves which I tend to use more for washing dishes. I like to purchase disposable nitrile gloves for regular cleaning. They have a tight fit and are pretty comfortable. I like them so much that use them for gardening and whenever I am painting as well. If like a more heavy-duty reusable glove you can try these reasonably priced reusable household gloves

In Summary

I have tried many products over the years and I continue to use the items listed above as my consistent go to products. I like to have a clean house but I don’t really like to clean my house. So I’m always on the look out for products that work well and don’t cost a fortune. I like efficient and effective products that make my job easier. Time saved on chores is time I can spend with my family. However, when my house is not clean, I get mean, and no one wants that.
