The 5 Best Cordless Vacuum Cleaners for 2021

Owning a cordless vacuum cleaner has made a huge difference in the way I clean my house. I wasn’t even the biggest fan of cordless vacuum cleaners until last year and I wasn’t the one who actually purchased the first one at my house – it was my husband. Somehow I just believed that the suction wouldn’t be enough to pick up all the fur and dirt that comes off from 2 and a half dogs (if you want to know how I have 2 and half dogs, I promise I will tell you later) and 3 cats.

I also didn’t think the vac would be rugged enough to take care of the grit that comes in on the shoes of two teenagers and a revolving door of friends. Well, here I am admitting to you that I was wrong. The cordless vacuum has made my life easier and I believe it can do the same for you. Here is a review of the 5 best cordless vacuum cleaners for 2021 so that you can find the best one for your life and your home.

1. Kyvol V20

This is my go to cordless vacuum cleaner. It has more than enough battery life and suction to take care of my entire house in one vacuuming frenzy. I am not talking about dusting and cleaning furniture and a vacuuming marathon. I am referring to the run through I have to give my floors every few days.

When I use the Kyvol V20 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner I am always surprised by how quiet it is. I can actually carry on a conversation with my husband while he cooks (yes, he cooks!). I can be buzzing around the kitchen, dining area and living room and still catching up with him and the kids about everyone’s day. That is truly a time saver for me.

I also like that I can adjust the suction power between 3 different levels. This allows me to clean the tile floors by using a lower suction power and using the highest on the thick oriental rug, while using the middle power on the lower pile of the Ruggable that I have in the dining room and the family room. The middle power cleans the hair and dirt off the ruggables without lifting them off the backing – perfect!

2. Dyson V11 Torque Drive Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

My big upright vacuum cleaner that I use for the heavy-duty once a week vacuuming is a Dyson. I have had this particular Dyson for almost 20 years. Isn’t that crazy!

So what I am saying is that even though you may look at the price tag on a Dyson and think it is just way too much money – the reality is that this vacuum is high quality and it will last you a good long time. Some really inexpensive versions of the cordless vacs might be tempting however you will be disappointed in the performance and you might be replacing them much sooner than you would a Dyson.

Dyson also has the most wide array of attachments available of the cordless vacs I tried. This vacuum continuously senses and adapts power so you always have the correct amount of suction.

You can see current performance on the LCD screen which also shows remaining run time, power mode, maintenance reminders and blockage reports.

The battery is easier to change out than some other models and when you empty the dirt chamber it completely empties without having to reach in to pull out the pet hair and whatever else.

The Dyson clips effortlessly into the docking station which doubles as a charging station.

3. Bissell 2746A ICONpet Pro

I really like this Bissell product. One of the best part about it is that every purchase made goes to help save pets. The Bissell Pet Foundation has a mission to help save homeless pets. As the hooman to 5 rescue pets (and one rescue horse) I find that to be really extraordinary. Way to go Bissell!

This vacuum has good overall suction and battery life. What really makes it stand out is the attachments that come with the stick vac. It easily converts from a stick vacuum to a hand held vacuum ad then to a high duster.

The purchase of this vacuum includes the cordless vac itself with the motorized TurboBrush, lighted-LED crevice tool (yes, it is lighted – the only crevice tool of its type that I have used), pet dusting brush and a flexible crevice tool.

The clean slide technology helps ensure the dirt tank empties easily so you have mess-free emptying and no clean up after you clean out the tank.

4. LG Cordzero Ultimate

All the appliances at my house are LG and I have had great luck with them. I just had to replace my washing machine after about 12 years so I really feel like I got my moneys worth out of it.

There is something to be said for a good trustworthy brand. LG has proven to me over the years that their products stand the test of time. This cordless vac is no different. I believe I will have it for a good long time.

There are a couple of things that really stand out to me about this cordless vacuum cleaner:

First of all – it has two rechargeable batteries. Hello! Why don’t all cordless vacs have two batteries. It just makes sense. You get into the cleaning groove and all of a sudden you are running out of power – no problem – just switch out the battery and keep going. Genius!

Second – the filters are washable. You can remove and wash not only the filter but the cyclone system as well to keep your vacuum dirt free and running at its best.

I also like the stand which doubles as a charging station so you don’t have to drill any holes in the wall. Overall this vac is really solid.

5. Eureka Rapid Clean Pro

Way back when, like 30 years ago (Yikes! 30 years) I had a Eureka canister vac. At the time I thought canister vacs were the best. I have since changed my mind and currently I think cordless stick vacuum cleaners are basically the best thing since sliced bread. Yes, really.

With all that said, this little Eureka cordless vac doesn’t disappoint either.

AS with some others, this vac lays completely flat to fit under even lower chairs and tables. This makes it easy to reach under beds too.

This cordless vac has a handy little nook on the back, they call it a Rest Nook, so you can prop on the counter or table if you need to stop for a minute to rest or pick something up and the vac won’t slide to the ground or bonk you on the head. Always a bonus in my book.

In Summary

There are dozens more cordless vacuum cleaners out there. I truly feel that the 5 represented here are the best options. The brands are respected and the vacuums themselves have great suction, adapters, battery life and easy portability and flexibility to reach everywhere you may want to clean. If you are a doubter like I was, maybe because when you think of this type of vacuum you think of the old Dustbuster (this is not the same!) or you think of the stick vacs with a cord and the gross bag (yes, I remember these and yuck!) you need to adjust your thinking and make your life easier and cleaner by trying out a cordless vacuum cleaner. You will not be disappointed.

NOTE: Thanks to my husband for insisting on buying a cordless vacuum cleaner. FYI, I haven’t told him how much I like having and using cordless vacs yet so don’t let the secret out!

Oh yeah, I owe you an explanation about the half a dog. So, about 12 years ago my family walked into a pet store and fell in love with a little reddish color cockapoo. We don’t support the way some pet stores operate and haven’t ever purchased a dog before but… We just couldn’t leave him there so we bought him and (because we are not very good at naming pets) named him Rusty. A little over a year a later my Dad left this world and left behind my Mom, who was his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. She was devastated and lonely so Rusty the little red dog went to stay with her. He would come back to us on weekends and now he is as much, if not more, my Moms dog than ours and we have rescued two lab mix doggos since then. Rusty now spends time at both houses and that is how I have a half dog, lol.
